Biography

Fabián dos Rios, born on January 11, 1994, in Dénia, Spain, is a Spanish-German pianist, writer, composer, and performer known for blending literature with contemporary neoclassical music through an avant-garde approach. His artistic journey began in an unexpected yet profound way — soaring through the air at the age of five as part of a performance at Circus Jonny Caselly, a renowned European circus designed and shaped by his great uncle Dieter Drewes. This early exposure to movement, rhythm, and spectacle laid the foundation for his expressive artistry and stage presence.

Today, Fabián’s signature concept, Literature Meets Piano, intertwines piano melodies with profound literary leitmotifs from works such as The Alchemist, Le Petit Prince, and Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind. His performances take audiences on a magical journey where neoclassical music merges with storytelling, evoking serenity and emotional depth. Drawing inspiration from composers like Ólafur Arnalds, Jean-Michel Blais, Yann Tiersen, Hans Zimmer, Ludovico Einaudi and Nils Frahm, he has carved out a distinct space in the contemporary classical music scene.

Growing up along the Mediterranean coast, Fabián’s musical world was further influenced by his grandfather, a celebrated first violinist with the Buenos Aires Philharmonic Orchestra in the 1960s. In 2018, a pivotal experience in Buenos Aires, where he played on a piano connected to his family's musical heritage, inspired him to compose with renewed passion. By the end of that year, Fabián had won Kunst gegen Bares, a talent show in Cologne, three times consecutively. This significant accomplishment not only distinguished him in the evolving world of neoclassical music but also earned him the highest win in the illustrious history of the show, which has featured over 700 performances, each with six talented artists.

The crescendo of Fabián's talent resounds globally, with over 2 million streams within a year and notable coverage in esteemed media outlets, including Radio Clásica Española (RCE). His Literature Meets Piano concert series, has captivated audiences in prestigious venues across Europe, including churches like St. Johannis Harvestehude in Hamburg and St. Matthäus Kirche in Munich under Dreamlights, Jardín de l’Albarda in Valencia, as well as performances in Cologne, Frankfurt, and more.

As he continues to expand his artistic journey, he forges a unique space where profound simplicity meets boundless expression, inviting listeners to embark on a deeply personal and cinematic voyage through sound and speech.
